Sign Book of Condolences

 DUECK – Mary was born November 25, 1911.  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother.  She went peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2010 with her family around her, after many months at the Palliser Regional Care Centre.  Mary immigrated to Canada in 1948 from Jasebeck, West Germany with her two children and her sisters, Katherine and Elizabeth and made Swift Current her home.  She worked at the west end Pioneer Co-op lunch counter and retired when the lunch counter closed.  She was a member of BridgewayCommunityChurch and was very faithful and active in it.  She was predeceased by her brother Jacob Berg (Kelowna, BC); her sisters, Kathrine Berg and Elizabeth Neufeld (Swift Current); her son, Henry (Hank) Dueck and his wife, Donna (Nipawin).  Mary is survived by her daughter Mary-Anne (Leo) Oberdorfer, Regina Beach, SK;  Deborah (Dan) Jahnke of Buena Vista, SK; Richard (Lori) Oberdorfer of Thompson, MB; Robert (Penny) Oberdorfer of Regina, SK; and the children of Hank:  Cindy (Dave) Bettesworth of Swan River, MB; Leander (Angie) Dueck of Winnipeg, MB and all of their families; Berg nephews and nieces: Jake (Delphine) of Swift Current; Walter (Mona) of Christopher Lake, SK; Abe (Grace) of Saskatoon, SK; Hilda O’Kopniak of Toronto, ON; Gertrude (Henry) Pelzer of  BC; a special sister-in-law Sara Dueck, and her children:  Henry (Elsie) Dueck; Lily (Pete) Rempel, Helmi (Reinhold) Peemoeller; Jake and Eleanor Dueck all of Winnipeg.  A special “Thank You” to Dr. Lee and the wonderful staff at the Palliser for their great care, love and compassion  they gave Mary.  A very special bouquet to Dr. Johnston for the many years he looked after Mary and the many house calls he made.  Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Gideon’s International.  Mary will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.  She was a very special lady.  A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from BridgewayCommunityChurch with Pastor John Duncan officiating.  The organist was Sheila Braun with special music performed by Pete and Leona Braun.  The ushers were:  Willie Braun, Gerald Voth, Lucille Wall and Jake Braun.  The pallbearers were great-grandchildren:  Christopher Jahnke, Jeremy Jahnke, Matthew Jahnke, Brandon Oberdorfer, Brody Oberdorfer, Ryan Bettesworth and Lance Dueck.  The interment took place at HillcrestCemetery, Swift Current, SK.  For further information or to sign the family book of condolence, visit our website at www.parksidefuneralhome.com.  Arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
