Stephenson Delbert Barry passed away suddenly and tragically On June 23, 2009. Delbert was born June 06/1945 in Gull Lake, Sask. He lived on the farm in the Clairbank district until the family moved to Swift Current in 1951. He received his education at Elmwood and Dickson schools. When Delbert was 16 years old he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He spent several years in various group homes in Sask. Fifteen years ago, he moved to Rosetown where he finally found his true home through Wheatland Regional Centre. Del worked at the recycle plant this gave him a feeling of self worth and a feeling of belonging. He resided in an excellent group home and received the best of care. Delbert excelled in his environment and he became the recipient of the "Al McGuire Move To Independent Living Award”. He also just recently received his 15 year award for working at the recycle plant. Delbert was predeceased by father, Cliff Stephenson in 1997, sister Doreen Lee in 1999, brother Bob Stephenson in 2004, mother Caia Stephenson in 2005 and brother in-law Percy Redmond in 1996. He is survived by sister Clarice (Jim) Duncan; sister-in-law, Lyn Stephenson; brother-in-law, Lloyd Lee and many nieces and nephews. Delbert was a kind and gentle man. He had many friends and his family was very important to him. In his memory donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Johnston officiating. The interment will take place at a later date.
