 ESCHE – Marion Alice it is with great sadness that the family of Marion Esche announce her passing on February 18, 2009 at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 81.  Marion was born November 9, 1927 on the family homestead near Stewart Valley, SK.  She was predeceased by her parents, Max and Rose Wellsch and her husband Keith in 2006.  Left to mourn her passing are her three children:  Pam (Steve) Treen, Cynthia (Brent) Bolton and Jeff (Kim Kennedy) Esche; grandchildren: Nicole (Tyson) Lavalee, Mellissa (Doug) Kerry, Mark Treen, Ryan Bolton, Taylor Bolton, Meghan Bolton and Devon Esche; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Jack Lavalee, Josh and Hannah Kerry.  Marion is also survived by her brothers; Francis Wellsch, Harold Wellsch and Max (Gwen)  Wellsch and sister, Dorothy (Euckie) Closs and numerous nieces and nephews.  Marion was born and raised on the family farm attending school at Saskatchewan Landing and then finishing grades 11 and 12 in Stewart Valley.  She started working for the RM of Sask Landing office in 1945.  Mom then moved to Swift Current and began working for the city of Swift Current in 1946.  She worked as the City Assessor until 1991 only taking time off to have her family.  She received a Meritorious Service Award form SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association).  Mom was very proud of this award as well as her many years at the City Hall.  In 1953 mom married Keith L. Esche and began raising their 3 children.  She was very active with the Catholic Women’s League and the Lion’s Ladies.  After her retirement in 1991 she took time to enjoy her family and grandchildren.  We will all remember her for her love of playing cards and baking her famous cabbage buns.  Mom was diagnosed 9 years ago with Leukemia and she fought so hard doing the chemo, but the disease finally overtook her.  Her strong faith in God and the Catholic Church kept her strong throughout her suffering.  Special thanks to her Doctors, Dr. Maree and Vanderberg and Van Bretta for their caring and compassion as well as Yvonne Jones for her superb nursing of mom.  All of the hospital staff were wonderful and made mom’s time in the hospital easier for us all.  The family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society – Wheatland Mall Unit 12A Swift Current, SK S9H 4C8 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in lieu of flowers.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:00 am. from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
