BEST, Mrs. Berle Marie, age 71 of Swift Current, SK, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Swift Current Care Centre with her family by her side. The funeral service was held Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Parkside Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bonita Chad of Grace United Church officiating. Honorary pallbearers were her Beta Sigma Phi sisters and all who shared in her life. Urn bearers were Judy Anderson-Best, Marty Peru, and Kelly Nelson. Berle is survied by her husband Bill; three children and four grandchildren: Laurie (Marty), Cale, Kyla (Landon); Keith (Judy); Rena (Kelly), Kalven, Ellie; brother Barry (Dorothy), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Elton and Marguerite Underwood; aunt Jean Wenhardt; aunt Gladys Oddie; uncle Langford Oddie; father-in-law Bill Best; mother-in-law Helen Best; brother-in-law Allan Waldbauer; and sister-in-law Kay Waldbauer. Berle was born in Regina and lived on the farm south of Milestone. She attended a one room country school for her early years and later was bussed to Milestone. After graduating high school she attended the University of Saskatchewan. She moved to Swift Current where she began work as a dental assistant for the Health Region. She met Bill Best through their dear friends Orm and Rena Dalton and were married on May 17, 1958 at the First United Church in Swift Current, SK. Camping and the outdoors were favorites and enjoyed by her entire family. Cypress, Pine Cree, and Elkwater were just a few special spots. Some of her other interests were a dedication to Beta Sigma Phi that earned her over 20 years of perfect attendance, fishing, scrap booking, crafting, pressing flowers and knitting. Each member of her family has received and felt the warmth of her beautiful hand knit afghans. Dad has lost his life long companion and best friend and will forever have a heavy heart. Our sadness is great with the loss of our mom and we will always wish we had a little more time. A special thank you to the staff at the Swift Current Care Centre for all you did for mom and her family. Memorial donations may be made to the Swift Current Care Centre Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
