THOMSON – Chuck - It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved husband, father, son and brother, Chuck Thomson on September 22, 2007 at Waterton Lakes, AB. Chuck was born August 4th, 1955 in Cabri, SK, the eldest son of John and Lorna Thomson. While growing up in Cabri, Chuck was an avid musician playing guitar and also the trombone in the Cabri Brass Band. He loved all manner of water sport especially boating and waterskiing at the Cabri Regional Park. He spent countless hours in the swimming pool and competed in many high level speed swimming events, including the Saskatchewan Summer Games. Out of the pool, Chuck had a need for speed which he satisfied with innumerable cars, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. In 1979, he married Kate Tollefson and later they were blessed with three children; Kim, Stephen, and Erica. He was very involved in his children’s lives and activities, volunteering with the Band Auxiliary, various Parent Advisory Committees, the Gelico Gymnastics Club, the SC Swim Club board and coaching soccer. Chuck could always be counted on for his enthusiastic attendance at all his children’s events. From 1976 to 1990 Chuck worked in the Ag Implement industry in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Swift Current. Anything related to business fascinated him and he went on to own the Husky Truck Stop, Husky Corner Store and Grasslands Training Group with business partner, Blair Clark. In 1998, he moved to Stark & Marsh Chartered Accountants as their operations manager, a position he held until his sudden passing. Chuck was a tireless promoter of the community of Swift Current and proudly proclaimed it was the city “where life makes sense”. During his life in SC he was a part of many organizations including Tourism Swift Current, The Chamber of Commerce, Action Swift Current, Action Southwest, Swift Current Museum Advisory Committee, and the Grace United Church council. He was predeceased by his father John Thomson. Left to mourn are his wife Kate Thomson, children Kim, Stephen, and Erica, mother Lorna, sister Carol, brothers David (Cheryl) & children Joel & Shayla, Doug (Toby) and children Shelby & Lauren, mother and father-in-law Roy & Fern Tollefson, and brothers-in-law Terry (Rosemarie) and children Errin, Heather, Mary, Megan, Laurie (Christine) and children Sarah, Greg, Eric Mark, Tim(Lorna) and children Brett & Lee, and a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chuck was a devoted family man, an exceptional employer and employee, and a community leader. His zest for life, infectious laugh, and endless enthusiasm will remain with us forever. Donations in his memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada Saskatchewan Branch. 1-888-664-8588 (www.kidney.sk.ca For further information or to sign the family book of condolence, visit our website at www.parksidefuneralhome.com.
