She is survived by her siblings: Fred (Norma) Popp, Jim (Bev) Popp, Florence Cook, Art (Barbara) Popp, Dot (Ron) Bennett, Betty (Lyle) Tillotson, and many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Ruby was predeceased by her parents, Emmanuel & Anne Popp, sister Phyllis in 1927, sister Wilma in 1977, brother Dick in 1990, brother Elmer in 2005, and sister-in-law Kay Popp. Ruby was a loving mother and wife who devoted much of her time and effort to her family. She enjoyed serving others. She served as a nurse’s aide and home care aide. She also cleaned house for many years. Even in her 70’s Ruby said she was enjoying “looking after the ‘old ladies’ in the area”. Ruby loved to garden and enjoyed canning while she was able. She loved the outdoors and horseback riding. She looked after the camp while John herded sheep and even helped herd the sheep up until recent years. She enjoyed sewing. She sewed denim blankets for her family. She would often ask “Do you have any old jeans for me yet?” She was also very excited to make doll blankets for her granddaughters. Ruby was always very excited about Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving when the family would come home and she could make a ham, buns and plumi moos. She loved to take pictures and would sit with her boys, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren and explain every picture to them. She loved to quietly visit one-on-one with her family and friends over a cup of coffee. Even though Ruby lived far from her siblings and family, she shared all of their news and excitement with a phone call to her boys keeping them up to date. She constantly thought about her family. Ruby worried about John and often expressed this concern in the past year when she was suffering with her own health issues. She celebrated with John and the boys in their hunting and fishing triumphs. She was so proud of all the successes her husband, sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren had. Ruby dedicated her life to service and giving. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who enriched our lives. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. In her memory donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
